MULTIDIRECTIONAL MOVEMENT SKILLS

This course focuses on the ability to quickly stop and change the direction of movement as a key aspect in many athletic arenas. In the course, we will examine the processes in which this is approached, trained and optimized.
Theory portions will include:
    • Biomechanical and neuromuscular responses and adaptations
    • Strengthening and developing supporting muscular structure for optimal performance
    • How to address and treat common injuries associated with changing direction
    • Coaching theory and application
    • Progressions and programming
Practical portions will include:
    • Movement preparation and warmup for multidirectional training days
    • Proper movement patterning and positioning
    • Individualization of progressions and regressions
    • Application of drills and testing in a team/individual setting, with sports specific examples
